(First of four parts) In this four-part series, VERA Files Fact Check compiled relevant information about six of the top candidates vying for Malacañang, and their respective vice presidential bets, to help voters make the ultimate decision.

The Manila Times columnist Rigoberto “Bobi” Tiglao falsely claimed that the Philippine Star erred in reporting that Vice President Leni Robredo was the most-searched presidential candidate on Google earlier this month.

Another version of the quote card used a different image but carried the same statement.

All three posts flagged by VERA Files Fact Check ridiculed the rally.

The radio station disowned the claim.

She was talking about a recent disinformation narrative targeting Robredo.

An old election campaign video of Vice President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo was altered with the use of unrelated images to present misleading information about her.

‘Atom Araullo is a Kakampink’ says one caption. ‘Atom Araullo for Leni’ says another.

Robredo’s spokesperson Barry Gutierrez cited a “conflict of schedule” as the reason for the vice president’s non-attendance.

Carlos did not allude to the vice president in her remark.

More than 65.74 million Filipinos are expected to cast their votes on May 9 in the country’s first-ever national elections during a pandemic.

The remark has been wrongly connected to the priest as early as December and recently revived on FB from Feb. 17 to Mar. 2.
