- Along with Duterte’s Basic Education Report 2024, DepEd launched its digital connectivity program called DepEd Digi-ED 2028 which seeks the full digitization and internet connectivity of all DepEd offices and schools in the country.
- The program aims to provide wifi coverage to schools, beyond only providing internet connectivity to faculty rooms. Along with this, DepEd also wants to provide both physical and digital textbooks for subjects under the MATATAG curriculum.
- For fiscal year 2023, DepEd reported a “delay and underperformance” in their Computerization Program, which provides laptops, smart televisions, and e-learning cart packages for teaching and non-teaching purposes. The backlog of over 17,000 packages was due to a “reconfiguration” in the specifications of the content of the packages.
