Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM) senatorial candidate Leody De Guzman said on Friday that the ongoing conflict between political dynasty candidates will help boost their chances in the 2025 mid-term elections.
The biggest thing we’re holding on to now is the current [state of] politics in our country. The [members of political] dynasties are exposing their own greed in political positions… in the Senate), De Guzman said.
The PLM-nominated De Guzman and labor leader Luke Espiritu as their senatorial candidates during the labor party’s national convention in Marikina City.
De Guzman described the ongoing rift between the camps of former president Rodrigo Duterte and incumbent president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as a shameless grab for power. He said this would help wake up voters in time for the coming elections.
(That is a positive thing that will make people wake up and think about changes in the election season this 2025. And they will support candidates from different sectors – not only Luke [Espiritu] and I but also other candidates from the masses).
De Guzman, president of PLM and Espiritu, head of the socialist labor center Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (Solidarity of Filipino Workers), both attempted to seek seats for national positions but were unsuccessful.
